Too much...

I have too much to say and too little energy to say it, but here goes...

My energy level this week has been back down. Part of it is extra effort I'm putting in to help Anne Marie feel a little less burdened during her last 7 weeks of graduate school, part of it is the project I'm working on with Keith, but mostly I'm sure it's just my thyroid problem making me feel bad. I think I'm going to have to take a week or two off of work to recover somewhat. Pushing myself to exhaustion every day is not helping me be as productive as possible. I hate to take time off with the project nearing completion, but the truth is that there's always something urgent in front of me.

Despite all of that weighing on me, this month's Eugene Weblogger Meetup was really nice (especially compared to my feelings about last month -- see "Pit of despair"). Kinsey was there as well as Ben, David, Kat and Alan. There was a lot of interesting discussion. I think I'll go again next time. :-)

The "hatching day" for one of our Silkie (chicken) eggs came and went with no hatching. :-( We have at least half a dozen more in the incubator, so we're hopeful to still get chicks soon. A reader from Warrenton wrote to me asking for advice about finding Silkies for her daughter and I helped her with some contact information for a Portland breeder from the "Yearbook of the American Bantam Association". (Bet you don't have that one on your bookshelf!) My greatest hope is that we'll have enough luck with the remaining eggs to have some to offer her.

In response to Ben's comment on my last post about GPS software, I think I'm going to pick up the "Route 66" software that provides GPS-based driving directions to see how that works. Even if you're tired of hearing about GPS, you can look forward to an update on that software soon. :-)

  1. he he he guess I got my first message under the wrong entry :-) Hey could my thyroid be not functioning and giving my brain wacky wiring??? I see that you're in the throws of Thyroid ickies, I hope your symptoms abate soon. My thyroid, and most probably due to the Levoxyl, has also been acting up. I always wonder how our fine pharmaceutical company is doing at titrating our meds, and especially keeping the potentcy accurate. So it goes with chronic health issues...it sucks to say the least. If it helps, we are not suffering alone...very Buddhist thought ;-) Seriously, I hope you do get some time away from your job (s) and can get feeling better. Aside from this rant I want to thank you for posting the many darling pics of Lauren. They are a joy to see!

  2. Feel better.

Let us know how the route66 software works out for you.

  3. I looked at the Route 66 software and it doesn't seem to have any features for speaking the directions while you're driving, or even indicating something like "turn right in 500 feet". It just plots the directions on the map. Not really useful compared to Delorme's Street Atlas USA which seems to not only display the turns and give you spoken directions, but also responds to spoken commands.

After also seeing the bad reviews for Route 66 on Amazon, I decided not to buy it. I'm going to hold my breath until Delorme goes back to publishing Street Atlas USA for the Mac.
